Pennine Explorer

Friday21 - Monday 24 August

Staying in a fine hotel on the edge of the Pennines this holiday features two very different journeys through the hills and moors of North Yorkshire.

Included is a ride on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway; a steam railway which runs through the heart of Bronte country. Lovingly preserved, the line was used in the film version of The Railway Children and countless other TV and cinema period dramas.

Steeped in history and natural scenic beauty, the Leeds Liverpool Canal is a truly fascinating waterway. What better way to discover it than onboard a beautiful traditional canal boat departing from Skipton, one of the oldest market towns in the country? During the hour long trip (included), the skipper unravels the 200 year old tale of the canal while passing through spectacular scenery, mill buildings and the many swing bridges.

The 4 star MERCURE DUNKENHALGH HOTEL AND SPA is set in 17 acres of parkland - the original building dating back 700 years. While many of the original features have been restored, the bedrooms and leisure facilities are modern and well-equipped. The spa features an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and thermal suite.
